Pseudopanax -Lessonii - also known by it's Maori name Houpara - is a small coastal shrub which has very attractive glossy green palmate leaves. Because it is tolerant of dry and windy conditions it is an ideal shrub for coastal planting. The plant thrives in full sun or semi shade locations but does will be damaged by any frost. It can be found growing naturally in the coastal back dune locations It responds well to pruning and when established provides a popular food source for the NZ Native birds which it will attract to your garden.
